Abu Dhabi – Ajman Tourism Development Department will organize the Second Leiwa Ajman Dates Festival in August, ATDD announced Wednesday.
Upon Directives from ATDD Chairman Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the event will be held, from now on, on an annual basis, ATDD General Manager Faisal Al Nuaimi said, considering the festival a distinguished tourism event that would gather UAE nationals and residents, as well as visitors to the emirate.
The announcement came on a back of a meeting that gathered ATDD officials and members of the organizing committee of Leiwa Dates Festival in Abu Dhabi.
To this end, both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on ways to enhance mutual coordination and cooperation with the aim of organizing the event in Ajman, ATDD general manager added.
For his part, Leiwa Dates Festival Manager Obeid Khalfan Al Mazroo'ie lauded the move by ATDD, affirming his team would offer all possible support to render Ajman's copy of the dates festival a success.
A joint committee will be held to follow up the work progress until the planned inauguration of the event in Ajman in August, Al Mazroo'ie added.
Ajman's first round of the dates festival was held in 2012.
